We make hundreds of decisions each day. One of the most important decisions we need to make is to be creating happiness for ourselves and for the world around us. I know this isn’t easy for everyone, so I’m going to show you how creating happiness through gratitude can be done. It is one of the fastest ways to start feeling happier.
Gratitude helps you refocus on what you have versus what you lack. When you are looking for things to be grateful for, start listing everything that was positive about your day. This moves your mind into a positive state. And did you know that positive thinking increases your level of happiness, reduces stress and even improves your health?
It’s true! What are you waiting for?
5 questions you can ask yourself each day to help you see what is awesome in your life (AND BE GRATEFUL FOR THE LITTLE THINGS) to create more happiness:
- What happened today where you felt loved?
Whether feeling loved came from something you did for yourself or from someone around you, feeling love each day is a wonderful feeling. Self-love is so important. You know what you need more than anyone else. Why not take care of yourself more so you can bring your best self to the world. If you didn’t feel loved today, what can you do to be sure you feel loved tomorrow?
- What happened today where you felt inspired?
That twinkle in your eye needs to be sparked each day. Whether it comes from an action you take each day (like reading inspirational books, blog posts, or statements) or from something you observed in your daily life, feeling inspired invigorates your spirit. If you didn’t feel inspired today, what can you do to be sure you feel inspired tomorrow?
- What happened today where you grew in wisdom?
You learned something today…what was it? How did you learn it? If it is something you want to apply into your life more, how can you have more of it in your life? If it is something you didn’t like, how can you be sure it doesn’t happen again? If you didn’t feel as if you grew in wisdom today, what could you do to be sure you do tomorrow?
- What happened today where you felt a sense of achievement?
There are days when the simple act of taking a shower gives a sense of achievement, and other days, it’s blasting through the tasks you set out to do. When you feel like you achieved something, you maintain motivation to keep going. If you are feeling complacent, this is a great area to start with. If you feel like you achieved nothing today, what can you do to achieve something tomorrow?
- What happened today where you felt a sense of happiness?
One of the best things you can do for yourself is to constantly be creating happiness. When you do this, you’ll be more resilient to what life throws at you. You’ll be able to enjoy each and every day, no matter what. If you didn’t feel happy today, what can you do tomorrow to be creating happiness?
It may be a good idea to start a quick bullet journal or make daily lists so you can see what you’re grateful for. On bad days, it’s pretty awesome to flip back and reminisce. You’ll see your happiness expand as your reflect on what you are grateful for!
